Practice Run

Yesterday was an especially eventful day for the Knight Family. It all started out with paranoia. I hadn't been feeling our baby kick that much in the past couple of days and he is usually a pretty active baby. I called my Doctor and was advised to go get a non-stress test to make sure everything was okay with the baby. Alex and I promptly went to the hospital to get the test done. First, the nurse did an ultrasound and saw that the baby was moving and got the heart rate, which was just fine. By this point I was feeling a little embarrassed that I was even worried. She then hooked me up to a couple of monitors that was detect contractions and also measure the baby's heart rate. After about 20 minutes, the nurse came back in and informed us the baby looks great but that my uterus was "too active" for what they like to see at 32 weeks pregnant. I was contracting about every 2-5 minutes and they were lasting about 60-90 seconds. They immediately called my Doctor and were advised to send me to labor and delivery. After being down there for a couple minutes, I noticed my contractions were starting to get a little bit painful. We got a new nurse.. that lucky nurse...who got to do some really fun tests on me, if you know what I mean. Following the extremely uncomfortable and painful tests, she did one last one and told me I was starting to dilate. My nerves and emotions at this point were all over the place. I couldn't decide whether I wanted the little guy to come now when he nor I was ready or if I wanted him to wait a little longer and both of us be more ready for when he comes. I quickly realized the first choice was quite selfish and he NEEDED to stay in longer. I was given an IV to rehydrate me and also given other medications that would stop the contractions. After about 3 hours my contractions weren't hurting anymore and I wasn't dilating anymore. The doctor gave me a prescription and decided that we could go home. This hospital visit reassured to me that I HATE the hospital, but now I will know exactly what to do and where to go when I go into labor at the right time! I guess the little guy was just trying to tell me we needed to go to the hospital.

Today has been a much better day, only a couple contractions, but nothing like yesterday. I also wanted to publicly thank my VERY thoughtful mother who brought Alex and me an extremely delicious dinner tonight.

75% DONE!

It is now officially time to start the count down! For the past 26 or so weeks I have been counting up to how far a long I am. I now think it is time to count down until the little baby is due. 10 weeks and counting (down) now! I'm sure reading blogs about my pregnancy is so getting boring, but it really helps me get more and more excited.

Pregnancy has really been the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have never learned so much or wanted to learn so much in my life. Things that I have never found much value for, I will never take for granted again. This is includes books, google (among other search engines), folding my legs easily (without having to help my leg up), clothes that fit me, sitting indian style on the ground, standing up without grunting, painting my toenails, shaving my legs with out feeling like I am going to crush the baby, being able to carry two laundry baskets and detergent to the laundry room, sleeping on my back and stomach, sitting right up close tight to my desk, not having to put lotion on when I am too lazy...etc, etc. As sarcastic as this may sound, I am being sincerely honest. I will value so many more things in life once the baby is born, most importantly the little guy.

For now, I just sit and dream about how cute and cuddly my little one will be, how much he will change my life, how happy he will make me, what he will teach me, and what I can teach him. I thank my Heavenly Father every day for the wonderful blessing he has given to Alex and me. We cannot wait for our little dream.

Cinnamon Rolls

Last night (until midnight) I made my first batch of cinnamon rolls. They took FOREVER but were so delicious. I would take a picture but they really tasted a lot better than they looked so I wont brag. My Aunt Jan gave me the delicious recipe after Alex talked about them for at least a few times a week for a few months....just joking....sorta. Anyways, if you ever want a cinnamon roll recipe or a cinnamon roll (I have so many right now) let me know!

Happy Birthday Alex!!

Today is Alex's 24th birthday! I decided that while Alex is playing with his new toys I could blog about how awesome he is! There are so many things about him that make him the best husband ever....

+He always rubs my feet when we are on the couch watching TV. However, it's usually because we have a deal that if he gets to watch football while I am home he can rub my feet!! But he also does it at other times.

+He reminds me everyday how beautiful I am. Especially when I complain about how fat I am right now and when I cry because my pants don't come up.

+He is SO smart and reasonable. Whenever I have a hard time making decisions he always walks me through the logic of things and helps me to do what is right. On the other hand, he lets me get whatever I want.

+He is going to be an awesome dad. I love when he talks about how excited he is for our little boy to come. He is very involved in all the preparations and makes sure everything is going to be perfect for me and the baby.

+He is a really hard worker. Not only does he go to school full time, he also volunteers, does research, and works 20 hours a week. So it's pretty much like have 2 full time jobs.

+He is extremely good looking...enough said.

These are only a few reasons why he is the most amazing person in the world. Happy Birthday Alex!!!

A Realization

So you know when you go to put on your seat belt and you pull a little bit extra of the belt out and then click and tighten? Well, I went to do that today and I couldn't pull that lil' bit of extra out. All I could really do was laugh. Yes, my stomach is so big that I am running out of seat belt. I know I will just get bigger so I shouldn't be complaining now. As much as it sounds like I really hate pregnancy, I love the fact that I have a little precious baby growing in my body.

I love feeling his big kicks everyday. When I lean up against my desk at work he reminds me he is getting squished and kicks back harder than ever. It is so cute.

I love finding lumps on my stomach and gently pushing them in and filling him roll around inside.

As much as I hate stretch marks, they remind me of how much I am growing and that the baby is well.

I love watching our nursery come together. It makes everything so real to me. (I'll post pictures when it is cuter.)

I love that my hair feels silky soft and is growing like crazy.

I love that my belly button can make Alex laugh. I showed him today and I thought he was going to die laughing.

I love that Alex gives me foot rubs and back rubs when ever I ask and that when ever I sit up screaming in the middle of the night because I got a major muscle cramp he will sit up and massage it.

I love the looks I get at the gym. Actually no, I hate those looks.

Anyways pregnancy is awesome. However, I can't wait to lose all the baby weight.

The Favorite Toy

For Christmas Alex's dad gave us Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. We soon found out that we would be spending hours and hours and hours in front of the TV playing it. It is really the most fun I have ever had. Alex, my brothers, and my brother-in-law already beat the game on my parents Wii. Now Alex and I are working on beating it on our Wii. I definitely recommend this for everyone!

Some things about December

This last month has been pretty fun for Alex and me. First of all, we had a great Christmas. I got absolutely spoiled by Alex, which in turn made me feel crappy when he open the gifts I got him because I actually followed our budget. I got some new shoes, jammies, scarf, foot spa, perfume, and a few other things. Alex's favorite gift was his new winter running attire.

Alex's winter running attire...I think he looks great in them!

Secondly, New Year's Eve was a party. Although we didn't attend any party, the fact that I actually stayed up until midnight and beyond was a miracle. We ended up going to my parents and playing a bunch of games with them... Perudo, Blockus, Guitar Hero, and Bananagrams, it was really a blast. At midnight Alex lit off some fireworks he has been holding on to for MONTHS. He got them back in August when we went to Bear Lake for a family reunion. Not only was it cool to watch them, but it is also great to make more room in our closet!

Lastly, Alex and I found out we are going to have a large baby! We went to the Doctor a few days before Christmas and found out that I was measuring about 31 weeks when I was only 26 1/2 weeks along. I am kind of hoping that the baby just hit a growth spurt or I really am farther ahead then I thought I was. But if not, we are having a 10 POUNDER...nice. At least we know that he is healthy and growing and that is all that really matters. Today we worked a little on making more room in our spare room so it can be a nursery. I will post pictures of the nursery as it comes closer to a finished product. But until then, Happy New Year!

Yep, it is definitely getting huge!
